My poet is Steve Kowit, who wrote The Grammar Lesson. Kowit has a unique style of writing. He uses a fun light poem to teach grammar and then he has a whole other side to him that is heavy and dark. He has gone to three different colleges and graduated all of them and has received his B. A. degree from Brooklyn College, Master of Arts San Francisco State College, and a Mater of Fine Arts degree Warren Wilson College.

Kowit teaches at the Southwestern College located in Chula Vista, which shows that education is important to him.

Children certainly don&#x;t get excited when being instructed about grammar and word usage in school.

The Grammar Lesson is light playful poem, where the other two poems I found by Kowit are deeper and not so playful. I chose two other poems that Kowit wrote which are called Notice and Some Clouds. Kowit wrote a book called In the Palm of Your Hand which teaches you how to write poetry and you can be used time after time.

The book you hold in your hands is a gift from a gifted and inspiring teacher, a way into the world of poetry, written by an enlightened guide who knows that world and loves it (Laux, Rambles).

Many people are inspired by Kowit&#x;s books and poems, as Rambles Laux was. Many writers and would-be writers will acknowledge that finding time to write is one of the most demanding aspects of writing (Kowit, Steve). He believes this to be one of the hardest thing to do as a writer.

Kowit believes a person should be educated, that is why he went to three different colleges.
